T SHIRTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AT THE HIGHLAND GAMES
GENEALOGY
Also near the main field, and right next to the St. Andrews Society of Pittsburgh, is the Genealogy Tent. There Rebecca Kichta Miller and her knowledgeable helpers can assist you in finding out more about your possible Scottish roots from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday only. The key to your family history is knowing how to find information about your name, immigrant ancestor, Scotland geography and history, available records, and where to find more information.
The Genealogy volunteers will have laptops available to assist in looking up information about your ancestors and printing out a page or two. However, Wi-Fi service in that portion of Idlewild Park is spotty depending on the weather, so they may not be able to look up information all day. But, you can still sit down, get help working up your basic family tree, and go home with a printout. Plus there will be plenty of maps and reading material about researching Scottish ancestors if you want to come in and take a break.
If you are a family history enthusiast and would like to volunteer to assist patrons, contact Rebecca Miller at shake_the_tree@hotmail.com for details
